DO YOU HAVE PROTECTION
And the monthly decent of your egg, .1mm. Its muscled three-day journey. We are dealing
here with combustion. Explosives. Ovulation isn’t all lust. Sometimes you’ll find a pinprick
of blood. A girl described it once as needle’s drag along your belly. That’s usually how it
feels.
Other things that are .1 mm. An amoeba proteus on its grainy slide. The diameter of
a single hair plucked from your lover’s head. Smaller than a Roman coin, Imperial
period. Smaller than a pharaoh ant. You know about pharaoh ants, right? Named
after a biblical plague. Anyway, point is, no way I can get pregnant again.
Other things that cause you to bleed out. Exsanguination. Not common, but
it can happen. Sudden trauma. A fall from a very high place. von Willebrand
disease. I had to look that one up.
Other things that took three days. Bolshevik Revolution. The ruling
on Roe v. Wade (first one—1973). The days of Good Friday until
Easter Sunday. I once asked my uncle why it was named Good Friday
since what happened was so awful but never did get an answer.
